Laurence Moroney (Developer Advocate) meets with James McLurkin (Hardware Engineer) to talk about AIY — Artificial Intelligence-it Yourself, a project from Google that is designed to ‘build engineers’, by giving you hands-on skills in building a device that uses Google’s Artificial Intelligence technologies.
With AIY Projects, Makers can use artificial intelligence to make human-to-machine interaction more like human-to-human interactions. The goal is to put AI into the maker toolkit, to help you solve real problems that matter to you and your communities.
Laurence Moroney is the best-selling author of dozens of computer books and hundreds of technology articles. James McLurkin is a robotics engineer with 20+ years of experience in the field, both as an industry project lead and an award-winning researcher at MIT and Rice University. He’s thought leader in multi-robot systems, having led engineering teams in building 2 different swarms with 100+ robots each. His interests are broad; but He’s only happy working on challenging projects involving electrical / mechanical / computational integration. He’s at Google now, developing cool new gizmos, returning to my roots as a hardware engineer.
